Visible, Hidden

Visible, Hidden (2025) is an eight-part public artwork that spreads across the kindergarten premises in Helsinki. The work is curated by HAM Helsinki Art Museum.

Two huge trees are spreading over the walls of the staircase. The roots are in the basement of the building. The trunks continue from one level to the next. The branches extend all the way to the third floor of the building.

The artwork is a story that a child and anyone passing through the building can follow from floor to floor. Each floor is its own small ecosystem and reality, focusing on different animals. With the help of the illustrated animals, it is easy for children to recognise the floors.

The original images have been drawn mainly in pencil, which creates a distinctive look of the artwork. Colors are added digitally, and the finished work is printed and attached to the wall. The illustrated wallpaper covers all together eight walls and some of the windows.
